Looking for a fun game? Heres one. Plants vs. Zombies (PVZ) from Popcap Games originally developed for Windows and Mac Os is now available for Ipad, Xbox live, PS3 and Nintendo DS.

PVZ is a tower defense action game. In the game you are a homeowner being attacked by a hoard of Zombies and you must defend your house using a variety of plants. It has an amazing HD picture, great music in the background and was even voted Game of the year and nominated for many other Interactive Achievement Awards.

Here is the way the official website describes it: A mob of zombies is about to invade your home, and your only defense is an arsenal of zombie-zapping plants. Think fast and plant faster to stop the zombies dead in their tracks. And with five game modes to dig into, the fun never dies.

According to PC Gamer its Funny, Endless, and a ridiculously good value.

PVZ has several game modes but the primary mode is single player mode which pits the player against wave after wave of Zombies. When you kill enough to finish a level you can earn money that can be used at a store run by your neighbor Crazy Dave where you can purchase new seeds, and other bonus items. In some levels of the game, the homeowner is given random seed packages, with different sunlight requirements and the player must learn to survive with the seeds provided.

There are extra modes that you can unlock as you progress through the adventure. These include a puzzle mode, Survival mode, and a selection of mini-games which include zombie themed versions of other games like Bejeweled. There is also a Zen Garden where you can care for plants you acquire from the ones youve killed during game play. In the Xbox Live version there are 5 multiplayer modes, both competitive and co-operative. There are also several mini games and a house where you can show off your achievements to your friends.

You start with a limited number of seeds and slots to plant them that you can use in most levels. New seeds are gained as you complete levels or you can purchase new seeds and slots with money earned. At the beginning of a level, the player is shown the type of zombies to expect and given the opportunity to select which seeds you want to use. To plant the seed, you must have a specific amount of sunlight. Sunlight is generated by special plants which provide light, or it is automatically generated for the player during daytime. Seed packs have a short time delay before it can be planted again. There are several night time plants that have a lower sunlight cost and a good for nighttime levels.

The way you play the game is you start off by placing several type of plants and fungi, each with their own offensive or defensive strengths, around the house to stop them from eating your brains. The playing field are horizontal tracks. A zombie will only move towards the players house along one track. Most plants can only attack against zombies in the track they are planted, they attempt to eat any plants that get in their way. In the games beginning levels, if the zombie reaches the house you can use a lawnmower or a pool cleaner to wipe out all the enemy on that track but beware because you can only use this one time and then you have to wait until the next level to use it again! In later levels you must purchase upgrades to adapt your lawn-mower to new environments. In the backyard levels there is a swimming pool and in the swimming pool you must plant the seeds on top of lilly pads, on roof levels, seeds must be planted in pots.

Plant abilities include firing projectiles, turning zombies against one another, exploding and wiping out many zombies in an area, and slowing down zombies. Certain plants are more effective against specific zombies, like the magnet-shroom that can remove metallic items from them, also helmets and ladders.

Zombies come in many types that have different abilities, like speed, damage tolerance, etc. As you progress through the game they will be wearing makeshift armor, there will be ones that can fly or jump over plants, and even dancing zombies that can get others from beneath the ground. In each level they will come to the house randomly except at special points where the player will be over run with a huge army of zombies. There is a timeline that warns you when the next wave will be.

Plants vs. Zombies is an amazing game! It was nominated for Casual Game of the year, Outstanding Achievement in Game Design, Best Game Design, Innovation, and Best Download Games and was picked by Gamezebo as the Best Game of 2009.
